Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
